The Highland Quaich - the Cup of Friendship

The Quaich originated in the Scottish Highlands and traditionally, is used when offering a guest 'the cup of welcome' and again when offerering a farewell drink.  The basic design has remained unchanged over the centuries - a shallow bowl with two handles or 'lugs' - although distinctive patterns have been used to embellish the bowl
