This gold plated half hunter pocketwatch features a 17 jewel visible mechanical movement. The back of the watch has a brushed finish and can be engraved with your choice of personal message. The stem (or pendant) faces 3 o'clock, in the traditional style.

Pocketwatch History
Whilst open faced pocketwatches are quite popular today, in the past, with their day-to-day use, the delicate porcelain faces were liable to become damaged. Subsequently, the full hunter pocketwatch was developed, giving a lid to protect the watch face. The half-hunter pocketwatch, with a hole or glass window in the lid, was developed to allow time-telling without the inconvenience of opening the watch lid.
Traditionally, open faced pocketwatches have the pendant at 12 o'clock to allow the wearer to tell the time whilst holding the watch by the pendant. Hunter and half hunter pocketwatches traditionally had the pendant facing 3 o'clock, to allow the wearer to tell the time whilst holding the pendant in his right hand and opening the watch case with his left.
